Photo Gallery | Gobb-brr, gobb-brr! March comes in with a turkey and a lamb
The month of March was welcomed into the Madison area Friday like a seasonably chilled lamb.
Photos by Waunakee resident Brian Allen -- which he said he captured at the UW-Madison Arboretum on the near west side Friday -- showed a snow-covered winter scene with trees and a wild turkey.
Chief Meteorologist Gary Cannalte said Friday's partly sunny weather plus the weekend temperatures forecasted to reach highs of 30 degrees and lows of about 10 degrees make for a lamb-like March opener.
That kind of weather brings the month in mildly, with seasonable cold but minor wind and precipitation. According to the proverb, a mild March start could mean a chilly, unpleasant end to the month.
