Sex offender to live in Spring Harbor neighborhood | News
Madison police plan to hold a community meeting on a convicted sex offender’s relocation to the Spring Harbor neighborhood area.
The notice said John G. Foellmi, 52, will be living at 49 Craig Ave.
At the Sept. 5 meeting, officers plan to provide information on sex offenders in general, specifics of Foellmi’s pattern of offenses as well as present educational information on self-protection and how to talk to children about protective behaviors.
Foellmi was convicted of 15 counts of possession of child pornography, two counts of sexual exploitation of a child and nine additional counts of child pornography possession in 2004, according to the notice. In 2006, Foellmi was convicted of fourth-degree sexual assault of a child. Police said Foellmi’s victims have been boys and girls both known and unknown to him.
Police and community members will gather at the Spring Harbor Middle School gym at 1110 Spring Harbor Drive from 6:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m.
In the notice, police said the meeting “is not intended to increase fear; rather, it is our belief that an informed public is a safer public.”
The Madison Police Department said there are 700 sex offenders on probation or parole living in Dane County and more than half that number who are registered to Madison addresses.
Police asked attendees not to bring children to the meeting.
