DJ to spin at Friday parks dept. party
Madison Parks will host the second annual Mother-Son Beach Party on Friday from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. at the Warner Park Community Recreation Center.
As winters wanes in March, area moms (or adult loved ones) and their sons are invited to get in the tropical spirit at a mother-son beach party, the Madison Parks Department said.
Superintendent of the Madison Parks Division Kevin Briski said the party’s tropical theme is meant to bring summer cheer into winter months.
"When you don't have the opportunity to travel to somewhere warm, it's easy to get the winter blues," Briski said.
Organizers said the Warner Park Community Recreation Center will be decorated in tropical themes for moms and sons to dance, play games and spend time together.
Pairs can have their picture taken and get down to music played by a live DJ, according to the department. Cake and punch will be served.
Parents and children are also encouraged to wear tropical or beach themed clothing.
Tickets -- $15 per pair plus $5 per additional son -- will be sold beginning Wednesday. Organizers said space is limited. Tickets must be purchased ahead of the event over the phone at 608-245-3690, extension 0, or in person at the Warner Park rec center, 1625 Northport Drive.
The parks department hosted a similar event on Feb. 9 for fathers and daughters.
