West Students Face Battery Charges After Fight

Two West High School students were arrested on charges of battery after a fight took place outside, but on school grounds, during Wednesday's lunch hour, according to the Madison Police Department.

A 16-year-old male student said Juan P. Lara, 17, of Madison, and Saul E. Ramirez, 17, of Madison, jumped him, punching and kicking him multiple times, police said. The victim suffered facial injuries, police said.

In addition to the battery charge, Ramirez also faces a charge having a dangerous weapon on school property. Police said he was carrying a knife.
